Blanket care
How do I look after my chunky knit blanket?
Your blanket should be treated with care. We want you to get the most out of it, but it is a knitted item and should be kept away from any sharp items that may catch or pull on the blanket.
As our blankets are 100% wool, please keep them away from any flames or candles. Pets also tend to love our chunky knit blankets so do keep an eye on them when you first bring one of our blankets into your home.
Can I wash my blanket?
Our blankets are made from 100% wool. If you get any dirt or stains on it, please treat it right away if possible.
Spot-clean with a damp cloth. Avoid using any harsh chemicals - you may use a tiny amount of a mild soap such as hand wash or dishwashing detergent if you wish. Try to blot the area rather than rubbing back and forth.
With gentle care, you shouldn't need to wash your blanket. However, if you do wish to wash the entire blanket, we recommend you bring it to a dry cleaner who specialises in working with wool.
How do I prevent my blanket from pilling?
Every one of our blankets goes through a process that can take up to 4 hours to pre-felt the wool slightly before being knitted up.
However, as with all wool products, friction from using your blanket cause pills. This is completely normal and all part of the experience of owning a quality product made from 100% wool.
You can simply leave these and enjoy it as part of a well-loved knit or gently cut away with scissors. Avoid pulling them off as it can cause the wool to tear or rip. Smooth over the area with clean hands after cutting off each pill.
Eventually as the wool felts a little more with use, you'll find that it will pill less and less.
Can I use my knit blanket outdoors? Is it decorative only?
Once it's yours, you can use your knit blanket however you like! We've seen it used as a decorative throw on the end of your bed, but as wool is a breathable fibre, it's also great to use as a lap blanket while snuggling on the couch.
We've also made blankets for new mums wanting a soft play mat for their bub, pet lovers wanting a bed for their furry friend and we've also seen others use their knits as picnic blankets - so lush!
